Azikem 250mg – Azithromycin Antibiotic Tablet

WHAT IS THIS MEDICATION FOR?
Azikem 250mg is an antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including throat and sinus infections, bronchitis, skin and soft tissue infections, ear infections, and sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Azikem 250mg contains Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, stopping the growth of infection-causing bacteria and supporting your immune system in clearing the infection.

HOW TO USE?
Take Azikem 250mg once daily with or without food, ideally at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve earlier.

SIDE EFFECTS
Common: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea
Less common: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite
Rare (serious): Irregular heartbeat, liver issues, allergic reaction
Seek immediate medical attention if any serious side effects occur.

WHAT TO DO IF I MISS A DOSE?
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it's close to your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver, kidney, or heart problems

  • Not recommended for those allergic to Azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics

  • Use with caution in patients with QT prolongation or arrhythmias

WHEN DO I NEED TO SEEK MEDICAL HELP?
Get urgent help if you experience:

  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

  • Yellowing of eyes/skin or dark urine

  • Chest pain or irregular heartbeats

CAN I TAKE IT WITH OTHER MEDICINES?
Avoid taking Azikem with:

  • Antacids containing aluminum/magnesium – space doses by 2 hours

  • Warfarin, digoxin, or anti-arrhythmic drugs
    Always inform your doctor about all current medications and supplements.

FOOD RESTRICTIONS
Can be taken with or without food. Limit alcohol as it may increase side effects like dizziness and stomach upset.

HOW TO STORE?
Store in a cool, dry place at 15–25°C, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

PREGNANCY CATEGORY
Category B – No proven risk in humans. Use only if clearly prescribed by your doctor.
