Onglyza

Onglyza (Saxagliptin Tablets) is a prescription medicine used to improve blood sugar control in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It belongs to the class of drugs known as DPP-4 inhibitors (Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 inhibitors). Onglyza works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones, which help the body release more insulin and reduce glucose production by the liver—especially after meals.
Onglyza can be taken alone or with other diabetes medications such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or thiazolidinediones. It is usually taken once daily with or without food.
