Azicip 500mg – Azithromycin Antibiotic Tablet

WHAT IS THIS MEDICATION FOR?
Azicip 500mg is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, sinusitis, throat infections, ear infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) including chlamydia.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Azicip 500mg contains Azithromycin, which works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby stopping the growth and spread of infection-causing bacteria. It helps the body’s immune system to effectively clear the infection.

HOW TO USE?
Take Azicip 500mg once daily, preferably at the same time each day. It can be taken with or without food. Always complete the full course as prescribed, even if symptoms improve early.

SIDE EFFECTS
Common: Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea
Less common: Headache, dizziness, fatigue
Rare (serious): Liver dysfunction, irregular heartbeat, allergic reactions
Seek medical advice if side effects are severe or persistent.

WHAT TO DO IF I MISS A DOSE?
Take the missed dose as soon as remembered. If close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one. Do not double up the dose.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Inform your doctor if you have heart, liver, or kidney conditions

  • Use cautiously in patients with a history of QT prolongation or arrhythmia

  • Do not use if allergic to macrolide antibiotics

WHEN DO I NEED TO SEEK MEDICAL HELP?
Seek immediate help if you experience:

  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

  • Signs of liver problems (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine)

  • Chest pain or irregular heartbeat

CAN I TAKE IT WITH OTHER MEDICINES?
Avoid combining with:

  • Antacids (aluminum/magnesium) – space doses by at least 2 hours

  • Warfarin, digoxin, or drugs affecting heart rhythm
    Always inform your doctor of all medications and supplements you're using.

FOOD RESTRICTIONS
Azicip 500mg can be taken with or without food. Avoid alcohol and high-fat meals, which may increase side effects or delay absorption.

HOW TO STORE?
Store at 15–25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

PREGNANCY CATEGORY
Category B – No confirmed risk in humans. Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
