Atomoxet 40mg – Atomoxetine Tablets

WHAT IS THIS MEDICATION FOR?
Atomoxet 40mg is prescribed for the treatment of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children (6+ years), adolescents, and adults. It helps enhance focus, reduce impulsivity, and manage hyperactivity.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Atomoxet contains Atomoxetine, a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (NRI). It increases norepinephrine levels in the brain, which supports improved attention, behavior regulation, and impulse control.

HOW TO USE?
Take Atomoxet 40mg once or twice daily, as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food, preferably at the same time daily. Do not chew or crush the tablet.

SIDE EFFECTS
Common: Nausea, dry mouth, decreased appetite, dizziness, trouble sleeping
Less common: Increased heart rate, mood swings, fatigue
Serious (rare): Liver problems, suicidal thoughts, severe allergic reactions
Contact your doctor if you experience any severe or unusual symptoms.

WHAT TO DO IF I MISS A DOSE?
Take the missed dose as soon as remembered. If it’s close to the next dose, skip it—do not double the dose.

PRECAUTIONS

• Avoid in patients with severe heart conditions, glaucoma, or liver disease

• Monitor closely for mood changes, blood pressure, and heart rate

• Caution in those with a history of depression, anxiety, or suicidal ideation

WHEN DO I NEED TO SEEK MEDICAL HELP?
Seek urgent care if you notice:

• Chest pain or irregular heartbeat

• Yellowing of skin/eyes (signs of liver damage)

• Suicidal thoughts, agitation, or hallucinations

CAN I TAKE IT WITH OTHER MEDICINES?
Inform your doctor if taking:

• MAO inhibitors, antidepressants, or blood pressure medications

• Asthma drugs or CNS stimulants
  Interactions may alter effectiveness or increase side effects.

FOOD RESTRICTIONS
No specific food restrictions. Can be taken with or without meals. Avoid alcohol, which can intensify side effects like drowsiness or mood changes.

HOW TO STORE?
Store at 15–30°C, in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

PREGNANCY CATEGORY
Category C – Use only if clearly prescribed. Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
