WHAT IS THIS MEDICATION FOR?

Clincitop gel tube 20gm is an antibiotic. It is used to treat certain bacterial infections of the skin, lung, digestive system, bones, joints and genitals.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Clindamycin can also be used to prevent infection if you are undergoing certain dental procedures.

HOW TO USE?

Take Clindamycin exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor. Take Clindamycin at regular intervals as instructed. Do not skip any doses. Continue to take it even when you feel better. You must complete the entire course of antibiotic. If you dont, the infection will not clear completely. If you have been given Clindamycin capsules, you may take it with or without food. Swallow it whole with a full glass of water in a sitting or standing position. If you have been given Clindamycin syrup, take it together with food or immediately after a meal. Shake it well before use to ensure that the liquid is evenly mixed. Use the measuring spoon or cup provided to measure out your dose.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Diarrhoea, Nausea and Stomach discomfort, Rashes, Breathlessness, Swollen mouth or eyes.

WHAT TO DO IF I MISS A DOSE?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule. Do not double a dose under any circumstances. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

PRECAUTIONS:

Inform your doctor if you have asthma or significant allergies, kidney or liver disease, or inflammation of the digestive system. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

WHEN DO I NEED TO SEEK MEDICAL HELP?

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat.Very upset stomach or throwing up. Diarrhea, even after drug is stopped. A fast heartbeat. Not able to eat. Feeling very tired or weak. Very bad belly pain. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

CAN I TAKE IT WITH OTHER MEDICINES?

Clindamycin should not be taken with another type of antibiotic called erythromycin.

FOOD RESTRICTIONS:

Avoid Alcohol.

HOW TO STORE:

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. Once you have mixed the powder with water, the syrup can be stored at room temperature not more than 25°C. Do not refrigerate it otherwise it will thicken and you may have problems pouring it out. Throw away any unused portion after 14 days. Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.

PREGNANCY CATEGORY:

Category B: Either animal-reproduction studies have not demonstrated a foetal risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women or animal-reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the 1st trimester (and there is no evidence of a risk in later trimesters).
