WHAT IS THIS MEDICATION FOR?
Azicen 500mg is a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, throat and sinus infections, skin and soft tissue infections, ear infections, and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) like chlamydia.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Azicen 500mg contains Azithromycin, which works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby stopping bacterial growth and helping the immune system eliminate the infection. It is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

HOW TO USE?
Take Azicen 500mg once daily with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow whole with a glass of water. Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve early.

SIDE EFFECTS
Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache
Less common: Dizziness, skin rash, loss of appetite
Rare (serious): Liver dysfunction, allergic reactions, irregular heartbeat
Contact a doctor if serious or persistent side effects occur.

WHAT TO DO IF I MISS A DOSE?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart conditions

  • Avoid if allergic to Azithromycin or other macrolides

  • Use with caution in elderly patients or those with a history of arrhythmia

CAN I TAKE IT WITH OTHER MEDICINES?
Avoid using Azicen 500mg with:

  • Antacids (space doses by at least 2 hours)

  • Warfarin, digoxin, or medications affecting heart rhythm
    Always consult your doctor before combining with other drugs or supplements.

FOOD RESTRICTIONS
Can be taken with or without meals. Limit alcohol, which may increase side effects. Avoid high-fat meals that may delay absorption.

HOW TO STORE?
Store at 15–25°C in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

PREGNANCY CATEGORY
Category B – Generally safe but should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
