Atorlip 5mg – Atorvastatin Tablets
WHAT IS THIS MEDICATION FOR?
Atorlip 5mg is used to manage high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, helping prevent heart attacks, stroke, and other cardiovascular conditions. It’s especially useful in patients at risk due to diabetes, hypertension, or family history of heart disease.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Atorlip 5mg contains Atorvastatin, a statin class medication (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor). It reduces the production of cholesterol in the liver, thereby lowering LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides, while raising HDL (good cholesterol).
HOW TO USE?
Take one tablet of Atorlip 5mg once daily or as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow with water, with or without food. Consistency is key—take it at the same time each day.
SIDE EFFECTS
Common: Muscle pain, headache, nausea, joint pain
Less common: Indigestion, fatigue, constipation
Serious (rare): Liver dysfunction, severe muscle pain (rhabdomyolysis), allergic reactions
Contact your healthcare provider if any serious effects occur.
WHAT TO DO IF I MISS A DOSE?
Take the missed dose as soon as remembered. Skip it if it’s near the next dose. Do not take two doses together.
PRECAUTIONS
-
Not suitable for individuals with active liver disease or persistent elevated liver enzymes
-
Use with caution in those with kidney issues or history of muscle disorders
-
Regular monitoring of lipid levels and liver function is recommended
WHEN DO I NEED TO SEEK MEDICAL HELP?
Seek prompt medical help if you notice:
-
Unexplained muscle weakness or pain
-
Yellowing of eyes or skin (jaundice)
-
Severe fatigue or allergic reaction symptoms
CAN I TAKE IT WITH OTHER MEDICINES?
Consult your doctor if you are on:
-
Other cholesterol-lowering drugs (fibrates, niacin)
-
Antibiotics, antifungals, or HIV medications
-
Blood thinners or immunosuppressants
Drug interactions may increase the risk of side effects.
FOOD RESTRICTIONS
Avoid grapefruit juice, which can raise Atorvastatin levels in the blood. Limit alcohol to reduce liver strain. Maintain a low-fat, heart-healthy diet.
HOW TO STORE?
Store in a cool, dry place at 15–30°C, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
