Acyclovir 5% w/w Cream – 5g Tube

WHAT IS THIS MEDICATION FOR?
Acyclovir 5% Cream is used to treat viral skin infections caused by herpes simplex virus, including cold sores (herpes labialis) and genital herpes. It helps reduce pain, itching, and healing time.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Acyclovir is an antiviral agent that stops the virus from multiplying by blocking its DNA replication, thereby helping the body fight off the infection more effectively.

HOW TO USE?
Apply a thin layer to the affected area 5 times daily (every 4 hours while awake) for 5–10 days. Use clean hands or gloves and wash hands before and after application.

SIDE EFFECTS
Common: Mild burning, stinging, dryness, or flakiness at the application site
Rare: Rash, swelling, or allergic skin reactions
Report any persistent or worsening side effects to your doctor.

WHAT TO DO IF I MISS A DOSE?
Apply the missed dose as soon as remembered. If it’s nearly time for the next one, skip the missed dose. Do not double apply.

PRECAUTIONS

  • For external use only; avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes.

  • Start treatment at the first sign of symptoms for best results.

  • Do not use on open wounds or severely damaged skin.

HOW TO STORE
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Keep the tube tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not freeze.
